About Our Guides

Matt Liebel

Beautiful Walleye

I, Matt Liebel am the owner/operator of Liebel's Guide Service. I have been fishing ever since I was able to hold a rod. I have been operating a boat on Lake Sakakawea for over 20 years and guiding for the past 12 years. During the school year I'm an 7th grade science teacher, I coach golf and basketball, and I officiate basketball and football. I just completed my 15th year of teaching and coaching in Williston.

Mason and Bridget

My wife Amy and I have 3 children. Mason is 11 and Bridget is 8, and Lincoln is 2. We also have a black lab named Molly, a chocolate lab named Berkley, and a Yellow Lab named Zoey.

My family is very important to me. I grew up in Watford City with 3 younger brothers. Growing up in the badlands of western North Dakota has given me a true love of the outdoors. I look forward to serving you as your Williston Area Fishing Guide.

Jeremy Olson

Jeremy Olson with a Big Lake Sakakawea Walleye

Jeremy moved to western North Dakota at the height of the oil boom, only to fall in love with the great outdoors and everything that North Dakota has to offer, he packed his bags and has never looked back. He enjoys spending his free time chasing mule deer in the fall, catching walleyes in the summer, spearing Northern in the winter, and finding Lake Trout and Salmon in the spring and fall months.

Wade Hollingsworth

Growing up in Minnesota, Wade Hollingsworth lived every angler’s dream. His grandfather built and established a resort on North Long Lake, setting the stage for Wade’s lifelong passion for fishing. Taught by his dad from a young age, Wade had his own boat by age five and a motor added by age seven. Do the math, and that’s over 50 years of fishing experience!

Wade has spent decades fishing for fun with friends and family, competing in tournaments, and participating in local bass leagues. His time on the water stretches across countless northern bodies of water, from Great Lakes salmon fishing to Mille Lacs musky fishing to Lake Sakakawea walleye fishing. This diverse experience allows Wade to offer both education for beginners and camaraderie for seasoned anglers, always happy to swap a good fishing or hunting story.

Once the lakes froze, Wade naturally transitioned to ice fishing. Whether perched on a five-gallon bucket or relaxing in a fish house with friends, his love for fishing never faded. Now, he's excited to expand his offerings by providing guided ice fishing trips during the winter, complete with portable shelters to keep clients warm and comfortable.

Over the years, Wade has carefully built an arsenal of gear and electronics to cover a wide range of species including walleye, bass, musky, trout, salmon, and more. His equipment is dialed in to ensure guests don’t need to worry about the details—he’s got everything covered. With today’s advanced electronics, locating fish is more efficient than ever, and Wade makes sure even the older crowd can easily follow along on the big screens.

But Wade's outdoor expertise doesn’t stop at fishing. Hunting runs just as deep in his veins. Deer, goose, duck, coyote, moose—you name it, Wade has hunted it. Growing up, his family depended on the men to fill the freezers, and those values have been passed down to his kids. He’s proudly shared his love for the outdoors with all three of his children—whether it was taking his daughter on her first deer hunt (which led to a once-in-a-lifetime North Dakota moose hunt, her moose "Marge" still displayed in her room), or teaching his sons to fish, hunt, and appreciate the outdoors as much as he does.

When you book a trip with Wade, you can be sure he’ll do everything he can to put you on fish, make it fun, and maybe even teach you something new along the way.

Jesse Reuter

Jesse Reuter was born and raised in Montana. Being a Montana native and growing up just across the border from North Dakota he has spent countless hours fishing Montana and North Dakota lakes and rivers, from Lake Sakakawea in ND to Fort Peck in MT. When Jesse isn’t working or guiding he’s hitting the Walleye fishing tournaments across ND and MT and also on the national level. He has fished as a Pro on the Cabela’s National Walleye Tour and the Cabela’s Master Walleye Circuit. Since starting to fish tournaments nearly 10 years ago Jesse has had a number of top 20 and top 10 finishes including winning the 2014 Montana Governors Cup and also the 2019 Tough Guy Tournament.

A beautiful Walleye

Jesse lives in Williston, ND where he and his wife Monica (who also loves to fish) are raising their two boys Jaxsen and Jaden, and daughter Addison.  Jesse works as an Electrical Superintendent in the Oil and Gas industry where he manages a team of automation and controls specialists that program and install PLC’s for automated process control systems. Having a technical back ground made him a natural fit for the Lowrance marine electronics Pro-Staff team. He is also an active member of many national and local Pro-Staff teams, including Ranger Boats, Mercury Marine, Fenwick, Pflueger, AirWave, Abu Garcia, Mack’s, and High Country Boats. You can find Jesse teaching seminars in the winter time at Cabela’s and Bass Pro shops and all the local sport and rec shows. He truly enjoys teaching people how to read and interpret their fish finders and sonars, helping them put more fish in the boat.

Jesse Reuter

Over the years, Jeremy has competed in different tournaments and has had a great amount of success. Some of Jeremy’s best attributes as a guide are his ability to instruct, professionalism, friendly personality, and his ability to provide an epic day of fishing.

Jeremy was born and raised in central Minnesota. He started fishing with his grandpa and dad on many of the local lakes as soon as he was able to hold his own fishing pole. He learned how to clean fish at the young age of three. The more Jeremy fished, the more he wanted to know about the different fish, techniques, and how to catch them.

You can rest assured that we will do everything in our power to make sure that you have a memorable experience on beautiful Lake Sakakawea. We hope to see you on the water! Jeremy will be offering guided ice fishing trips this coming winter, stay tuned for more details as we approach ice fishing season!
