About Our Guides

Matt Liebel

I, Matt Liebel am the owner/operator of Liebel's Guide Service. I have been fishing ever since I was able to hold a rod. I have been operating a boat on Lake Sakakawea for over 20 years and guiding for the past 9 years. During the school year I'm an 7th grade science teacher, I coach golf and basketball, and I officiate basketball and football. I just completed my 11th year of teaching and coaching at Williston Middle School.

My wife Amy and I have 2 children. Mason is 7 and Bridget is 4! We also have a black lab named Molly and a chocolate lab named Berkley.

My family is very important to me. I grew up in Watford City with 3 younger brothers. Growing up in the badlands of western North Dakota has given me a true love of the outdoors. I look forward to serving you as your Williston Area Fishing Guide.

Fishing tournaments is a huge passion of mine, Tory Hill and I were lucky enough to win the 2011 North Dakota Governors Cup. I have also won the 2012 & 2010 Catch for a Cure Ice Fishing Tournament, 2009 4Bears Casino Cup, and the 2007 SW Angler Walleye Tournament all on beautiful Lake Sakakawea. In 2015 and 2017 I captained the winning team (My wife and friend Liz) for the Women on Water Tournament out of White Earth Bay! In 2018 we had a great tournament year winning the ND AIM Weekend Walleye Series Team of the Year, which was anchored by a couple 35+ pound days on Lake Sakakawea! In 2019 Tory and I won the Williston Rural Fire Department Spring Walleye Classic! I am a 5 time AIM WWS National Shootout Qualifiers!

I also enjoy hunting. North Dakota offers great pheasant, deer and turkey hunting!

Jeremy Olson

Jeremy was born and raised in central Minnesota. He started fishing with his grandpa and dad on many of the local lakes as soon as he was able to hold his own fishing pole. He learned how to clean fish at the young age of three. The more Jeremy fished, the more he wanted to know about the different fish, techniques, and how to catch them.

Jeremy moved to western North Dakota at the height of the oil boom, only to fall in love with the great outdoors and everything that North Dakota has to offer, he packed his bags and has never looked back. He enjoys spending his free time chasing mule deer in the fall, catching walleyes in the summer, spearing Northern in the winter, and finding Lake Trout and Salmon in the spring and fall months.

Over the years, Jeremy has competed in different tournaments and has had a great amount of success. Some of Jeremy’s best attributes as a guide are his ability to instruct, professionalism, friendly personality, and his ability to provide an epic day of fishing.

You can rest assured that we will do everything in our power to make sure that you have a memorable experience on beautiful Lake Sakakawea. We hope to see you on the water! Jeremy will be offering guided ice fishing trips this coming winter, stay tuned for more details as we approach ice fishing season!

Jesse Reuter

Jesse Reuter was born and raised in Montana. Being a Montana native and growing up just across the border from North Dakota he has spent countless hours fishing Montana and North Dakota lakes and rivers, from Lake Sakakawea in ND to Fort Peck in MT. When Jesse isn’t working or guiding he’s hitting the Walleye fishing tournaments across ND and MT and also on the national level. He has fished as a Pro on the Cabela’s National Walleye Tour and the Cabela’s Master Walleye Circuit. Since starting to fish tournaments nearly 10 years ago Jesse has had a number of top 20 and top 10 finishes including winning the 2014 Montana Governors Cup and also the 2019 Tough Guy Tournament.

Jesse lives in Sidney MT where he and his wife Monica (who also loves to fish) are raising their two boys Jaxsen and Jaden, and are also licensed foster parents who take in young foster children who need a home. Jesse works as an I&E Supervisor in the Oil and Gas industry where he manages a team of automation and controls specialists that program and install PLC’s for automated process control systems. Having a technical back ground made him a natural fit for the Lowrance marine electronics Pro-Staff team. He is also an active member of many national and local Pro-Staff teams, including Ranger Boats, Mercury Marine, Fenwick, Pflueger, AirWave, Abu Garcia, Mack’s, Mondak Sports, and High Caliber Sports. You can find Jesse teaching seminars in the winter time at Cabela’s and Bass Pro shops and all the local sport and rec shows. He truly enjoys teaching people how to read and interpret their fish finders and sonars, helping them put more fish in the boat.

Jesse is the owner and operator of ReelEyes Fishing Team and Guiding.
