Spring is coming???
|Posted on April 15, 2018 at 9:02 PM||comments (146)|
Well eventually we will get spring weather and the ice will melt... It does look to be a while still with people still needing extensions on the ice augers! One thing we do know is that when the ice melts the walleyes will be plentiful. I attended the ND Game and Fish Advisory Board meeting last week and they said there was great natural reproduction last year and walleye numbers are among the highest on record! They also mentioned that bait fish was abundant so that means good things for many years to come! Northern Pike numbers aren't as good as they have been but the size is increasing! We saw a good number of big fish through the spear holes this past winter. The water levels for Lake Sakakawea are looking good with predictions of peaks around 1846. The mountains that feed the lake are approaching snow pack similar to 2011 when we saw record highs on the lake.
We have 4 boats lined up and ready to fish this summer so we can get you out almost any day you want at the moment. We can accommodate almost any size group so give us a call to book your Lake Sakakawea fishing adventure! 701-770-6746

Well we are approaching ice up on Lake Sakakawea, hoping maybe to get out once more over Thanksgiving weekend if I am able to fill my whitetail buck tag! It has been a GREAT YEAR on Lake Sakakawea, the fishing was as good as I've ever experienced! We are entering the "good old days" and it is very exciting to be a part of!
We at Liebel's Guide Service would like to thank YOU, for all of your support and patronage. Without YOU we wouldn't be able to do what we love; spending days on the water putting YOU on fish! We are already booking trips for the summer of 2018 and with 4 guides we have the ability to get you on the water no matter how big or small the group!
We are also going to be offering some ice fishing trips this winter with the main focus on Darkhouse Spearing of Norther Pike. Guides Jeremy and Cobi will be taking you on the "hunting trip of the ice fishing world." They have all the gear needed you just need to show up and "chuck a spear!" Stay Tuned to the website and Facebook for our updates as they come. We are still sorting details and will post everything we we are able. The spearing season opens on Dec 1. We may not have fishable ice on all of Lake Sakakawea by then but we will keep you updated.
Lastly, again I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart. To show our thanks we will be offering you a holiday special! Purchase a trip or trips with me for the summer of 2018 between now and Dec 31st, 2017 and I will knock $50 off your total trip cost. Please contact me (701-770-6746) and I will get that all set up. You will only have to pay a $100 deposit instead of the normal $150! I also can do Gift Certificates! Thanks again for everything!

Lake Sakakawea continues its spectacular year with the bite now strong on most of the lake.
The best numbers bite is out west in the New Town area but limits of walleyes are being caught from White Earth to the Embankment on the east end. The extreme west end has been a little slower due to muddy water from the mountain runoff.
The lake is predicted to remain relatively stable for the next few weeks so the stellar bite should continue! The size of the fish and tournament weights have been way up compared to past year, we encourage you to practice selective harvest and let the big girls go! There are plenty of perfect eater sized (16-20″) fish, and you can catch fish almost any way you want.
Our best methods have been trolling Berkley Flicker Minnows and Flicker Shads. On days where the crank bite is slow Mack’s smile blades with a Berkley fusion 19 slow turn hook and a half crawler will put fish in the boat! Depths really vary depending on locations and wind, but 10-16 feet is a good starting point. Windy days look shallower and calm days look deeper. There are so many fish in the lake use your electronics to tell you what depth you should be in!
We have openings available for many days in July! Give us a call @ 701-770-6746 to book your Lake Sakakawea fishing adventure.
