Liebel's Guide Service strives to give you the best fishing experience possible. All fishing is done out of a fully inspected, fully equipped, 19-22 foot boats. These boats can handle the big water of Lake Sakakawea and can get us home quickly if the need arises.
Lead Guide Matt Liebel will be running a 2022 Nitro Zv21 Pro, powered by a 2022 400HP Mercury Verado Engine.
For a fully guided trip I will provide:
- Boat, Motor, Gas, Bait
- All fishing equipment needed.
- Fish cleaning and packaging at days end.
- Life Jackets
- If you have your own life jacket tailored to your size please bring it. Also if you have a favorite fishing rod, don't hesitate to bring it!
Things for you to bring:

Places to fish:
The picture below shows some places along Lake Sakakawea where we can fish out of for the day. Generally we fish out of the New Town Marina or 4 Bears Marina, but the weather and bite can dictate launch locations. Most of these places offer camping spaces if you're interested in staying a couple days. You can check out their websites or contact information under the Links page. As a general rule the walleye fishing starts out better farther west in the New Town area in June and then moves east into July. (Click on the picture for a larger version)
2023 Open Water Rates: (SUBJECT TO CHANGE DUE TO FUEL PRICES)
$150 Deposit Required to lock in a date
Full 8 hour day (7 hours of fishing + fish cleaning/packaging)
- 1 or 2 people $550 ($150 deposit +$400 due day of trip)
- Each additional person $150

Half-Day Rates: (4 hours of fishing with the option to add hours).
- 1 or 2 people $500 ($50 per additional hour)

Safety
Lake Sakakawea is a large reservoir and mother nature can make conditions unsafe quickly. Therefore, we have the following safety standards:
- LIFE JACKETS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES! We have the new auto-inflate life jackets that are small, light, and comfortable. You often forget you are you are wearing them at the end of the day. As Per NDGF & US Coast Guard Regulations this type of life jacket must be worn to count as a legal flotation device.
- Any lightening in the area will result in the boat going to shore, and waiting for the storm to pass.
- Sustained winds of 30+ mph will result in ending the trip early.
- Sustained winds of 20-30mph will require life jackets to be worn at all times
- Forecasts predicting winds of 25+ mph (night before the trip) will result in cancellation of the day. (Deposit Refunded, No Charge)
- We reserve the right to end the trip at anytime due to unsafe conditions.
2023 Ice Fishing Rates:
$150 Deposit required to lock in a date
Walleye/Sauger Trips (VERY LIMITED AVAILABILITY)
4 hour trips (either early morning or late afternoon, based on sunrise and sunset times)
- 1 Person base rate: $450
- Each Additional person: $125
- Each Additional Hour: $50/hour
- We will drill holes and provide each person with 2 rods or tip ups, bait, pop up fish houses with heater if needed.
- We only do 4 hour trips because generally the walleye bite throughout the day is slow. Best times are mornings and evenings.
